VIDEO: How to Wow – Watercolor on Any Paper

Do you have dismal results when watercoloring on plain or patterned paper? Think you are relegated to always using watercolor paper? Wrong!

Today’s WOW technique is something I’ve been tossing around in the back of my mind for a while now. And, I’m so glad I finally got to it! The results could not be any better – and you’re going to love it!

I was inspired by this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge board. It’s my week off from the challenge, but I wanted to play along anyway. So, I honed in on the bottom row – Leaf, FREE, Splatter. I was also interested in the last column – Yellow & Angled, but I only got to the “Yellow” part…

Like everyone else, I’m loving watercoloring these days. There’s just so many inventive ways that people are using it. One of my favorites is as a colored blob, with some splatter behind an image. It was the perfect idea for me to try out my watercoloring theory…

For the Tic Tac Toe Challenge (#TTTC011). Featuring, Vintage Leaves stamp set, Leaflets Framelits, Daffodil Delight. For more details and a video on watercoloring on any paper, click through. #pmretreat #stampinup #packaging #watercolor #encouragement #hope #handstamped

Today’s video will show you how I was able to successfully watercolor on plain ‘ol Whisper White cardstock. I even show that it can be done on DSP too! The secret is soooo simple you’ll be hitting “buy” on your Amazon cart in no time, oh, and ordering ALL of the Stampin’ Up! ink refills too!

How about that? Here’s some more tips to make this card a success!

  • BE SURE to use the Embossing Buddy before stamping on vellum. Otherwise, you’ll just end up with a blob. Yuck!
  • Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals are the perfect way to pop up the vellum leaf. I even cut some of those in half so they would remain hidden under the embossed areas.
  • Change up your sentiment and have a card for any occasion. This would be a stunner for Thanksgiving, a fall wedding or birthday, or even to celebrate spring! OR, do it up in reds and send it to your favorite Canadian!!
