EDIT: Ok, so I just found out that Thoughtful Branches is still available! Stampin’ Up! will NOT be carrying it into a future publication, so they will continue to sell the bundle until their supply is deleted. So, it’s now officially a Limited Edition item! If you don’t have it yet, this bundle is super versatile – just look it up on Pinterest and see all the cool things you can make with the tree leaves… Add the bundle to your cart before you finish my post for the day!

Buy the Bundle

Well, chalk today’s design up to #poorplanning. When I put this one together earlier in the week, I totally forgot that today would be the 1st of September, and the Thoughtful Branches bundle would no longer be available. Well, there’s things to learn from any card – whether the actual paper/stamps/ink are available or not, so I’ll be sure to focus on that.

IF you did happen to get this bundle (and I know many of you did!), this is one last design for you to pin to a Pinterest board. If sales were good enough, we could see this set come back in a future catalog (probably next year’s Annual Catalog).

We can all learn something from #poorplanningClick To Tweet

So, to top it off, today is the first day of the new Holiday Catalog – so, shouldn’t I really be showing you something stellar from that instead? Well, again, #poorplanning. Oh well – there’s plenty of time for the holidays, and the lesson here is that the Annual Catalog is still chalk full of great products that we shouldn’t forget about, even if there’s something new and shiny out there. Well – secretly, I am sharing some new stuff – like all the wonderful copper 😀

Maven’s Mastery Tips

What Do You See?

Sketches are great because they can spark the imagination. For today’s sketch, I saw the perfect opportunity to make an offset gate-fold card. The card opens just to the right of the circles (approximately 2 inches). In order to add interest, and get the card to “latch” shut, the copper medallions are not glued down on the right, and the background DSP extends past the right side fold. This tucks under the medallions beautifully. Of course, you could just do a top-fold and overlap the medallions (like the one that’s in the scene above)

Forego the Bow!

Sometimes a bow isn’t quite what you’re looking for – that’s when most go for the knot. How about a swoosh instead? I simply twisted the burlap ribbon around, and added a few staples to keep it all in place. A few glue dots behind helps keep it all right in place on the design. It’s a lovely, natural accent, that’s kinda like a bare hillside. And, it looks lovely with the copper all around!

Color Coordinator Inspiration

I was looking for something other than green for the leaves, and I figured since we were getting into fall, that I could do browns too – but I wanted a pop. So, I pulled up my handy Color Coordinator and found a line of colors that would work perfect: Flirty Flamingo, Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz and Island Indigo. That pop of blue is unexpected – and perfect! Don’t forget to pin the color card for future reference!
