Sweetest Day? Never heard of it!!

According to Hallmark.com:

Sweetest Day is an original American holiday not based on any group’s religious tradition. It’s simply a reminder that a thoughtful word, deed or small gift enriches the life of the recipient as well as the person giving it.

Legend has it that Sweetest Day was established around 1922 by Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio candy company employee who wanted to bring happiness to the lives of those who often were forgotten. Kingston and others distributed candy and small gifts to orphans, people confined to their homes and others to show them that someone cared.

We’re all ready to show some love over at Festive Friday because Sweetest Day is on October 20th this year. That means we’re looking for love and happiness themes in your designs this week. Alternately, you can just add in some stripes and call it done!

Play along at the Festive Friday Challenge - Earn Fest Points for free stuff! Find us @festivefridaychallenge or festivefridaychallenge.com. New challenges every other Friday! #cardchallenge

Looking for ideas – here’s a few:

  • Pull out some leftovers from your previous Valentine’s Day supplies. Hearts are perfect for the theme!
  • Think outside the box and express “you matter” or “I appreciate what you did…”
  • Make some treat holders that would be perfect to give out during your day so people know you appreciate them!
  • Go for the “or” option and focus on a design with a fun striped pattern!

Don’t forget to leave a comment at the end of the post to qualify for my monthly giveaway!

Of course, October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I thought I would combine the idea of Love with Cancer awareness and Stripes! I made my own striped background with Stampin’ Blends – it’s super easy to do!

Today’s project can be completed in just a few short steps.
