Are you ready for a new Sketch Starter Challenge? As you might know, I host a monthly Sketch Starter Challenge GIVEAWAY each month. We took a break in December, but it’s time to get crafting and sharing again! All you have to do is use one of the current sketches and upload or link to your project using a sketch. You could win a $15 gift certificate from Altenew!

bold & gold
When most people look at the sketch above, they automatically assume that the smaller rectangle is stacked on top of the larger rectangle, and that the strip is stacked on top of everything else. But what if it isn’t? That was the approach I took with this first design. In this case, the gorgeous gold layer created from the Beautiful Bergenia 3D Embossing Folder is inset, with a black frame popped up around it. It’s kind of like a shadowbox.

subdued & spotlight
On the flip side, we can stack the layers as expected, but create a spotlight look by coloring only the popped up center layer, and matching it up with the same Bergenia Builder image in the background.
