2 Minutes to Finish (2M2F) – Sure Do Love You

Yea!!! Tic Tac Toe Challenge is back! Team O is up and we’ve got a fun board for you this week – hosted by… ME!
I’m working on a whole slew of projects using the new Sure Do Love You product suite. I’m excited to say that I’m going to have project tutorials, videos, and even supply kits available very soon for you! Be sure to check in after the video to see how you can start earning Pixel Points to get them for free!

Today’s project is inspired by the newest Tic Tac Toe Challenge board. This week’s board is hosted by me! I always have to laugh when my board comes up because I always forget what I put on the board to begin with. Sometimes the struggle is real… Let’s take a look at the board!

Play along at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge - Inspiring you 8-ways each week! Find us @tttchallenge or tictactoechallenge.com. New challenges every Thursday!

Honestly, I was elbow-deep in the Sure Do Love You suite when I switched gears to work on a few challenge designs. I stared, and stared, and stared at the choices in front of me. Looking at all of the suite products, I knew I’d be able to get them to fit with this board. I finally came up with a quick and simple 2 Minutes to Finish design using the far right column – Floral, No Sentiment, Purple:

For the Tic Tac Toe Challenge (#TTTC030). Featuring: Painted With Love Specialty DSP, Painted Love Vinyl Stickers. For more details including a video tutorial, click through. #pmretreat #stampinup #hearts #handstamped

With the notecard pack, a few strips of the DSP and coordinating Cardstock pack, and the vinyl stickers, you could have a pile of these whipped up in 30 minutes – easy! Here’s how easy it is…
How about that? I know that sometimes people get hung up on wanting to make an identical stack, but that’s not always necessary! Don’t feel like you need to have identical cards. If you use a stack of these for coworkers or friends, it’s fun to see how they compare each other’s designs and point out things they like about each. That’s the beauty of having all the coordinating designs!

Just use the same basic layout and switch it up with different strips of DSP, and vinyl stickers. There’s 20 total border strips of stickers and 20 notecards in a pack – a match made in heaven! Like I showed in the video, you can go horizontal or vertical – it works both ways!

On the CASE: Sure Do Love You

Welcome to 2018! Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it!

Today’s On the CASE file is all about making a sweet for your sweet! I was instantly drawn to this amazing sample, and was thrilled to discover that it was pretty easy to make too! Honestly, it’s the Painted with Love Specialty DSP that adds all the wow to this lovely design. I love that even though it’s “specialty” it has patterns on the back sides, just like regular DSP. But, really, who wants to cover up all that amazing gold foil?!

Ann is CASE-ing out another Occasions Catalog favorite – Petal Palette. How do we know it’s a favorite? We’ve had the catalog since November! And, we’ve been able to order products since then too!! Can you believe we’ve even been playing with Sale-a-Bration items? If you feel left out, you can fix that – just get the Best Deal Ever and you’ll get to see and purchase products early too!

On to the details for this week’s CASE!

Stamps and Paper and Inks … Oh, My!

Stamps: Sure Do Love You (bundle available with dies)
Paper: Thick Whisper White Cardstock (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″), Powder Pink Cardstock (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″), Powder Pink Cardstock (3 3/4″ x 5″), Whisper White Cardstock (2 1/2″ x 3″), Painted With Love Specialty DSP
Inks: Powder Pink, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: Painted Love Gold Vinyl Stickers, Love Mini Tinsel Trim Combo
Other: Big Shot, Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies (part of the bundle with the stamp set), Sweet & Sassy Framelits Dies.

On the CASE Notes

(your step-by-step guide)

  1. Score your card base at 4 1/4″. Fold and burnish the edge with a bone folder.
  2. Adhere the 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Powder Pink panel to the card base.
  3. Stamp the small heart shapes in Powder Pink on the 3 3/4″ x 5″ Powder Pink CS panel.
  4. Adhere the stamped Powder Pink panel to the card base.
  5. Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White. Ink just the top of the stamp with Rich Razzleberry. Then, ink the middle (and bottom) with Melon Mambo. Finally, ink the bottom with Rich Razzleberry again. It’s ok that there’s Melon mambo on the bottom of the stamp as it will blend into the Razzleberry ink pad. Huff on the stamp if necessary to reactivate the ink, then stamp! Voila – a 2-tone sentiment!
  6. Diecut the sentiment with the heart from the Lots to Love Box Framelits, and two hearts in the Specialty DSP with two hearts from the Sweet & Sassy Framelits collection.
  1. Adhere the DSP hearts to the card base as shown.
  2. Add a glue dot to the center of the back of the sentiment. Arrange the Tinsel Trim as shown.
  3. Squinch the tinsel in the center and adhere to the glue dot. No knots or bows necessary!!
  1. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment. Be sure to add one to the center to help keep the trim adhered.
  2. Adhere the sentiment to the card base.
  3. Add small vinyl heart stickers to card base as shown.

How Hard Was It to Crack this CASE?

Difficulty Level: 2 out of 5 – Not a lot of nit-picky steps, and lots of WOW from that DSP made this design pretty quick to accomplish! You could even make up a batch of these to hand out to lots of Valentines – or, just one for your special someone!

#SUontheCASE

We hope our projects today inspired you to try CASE-ing the catalog too! We’re “on the case”, looking for the hashtag #SUontheCASE on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Google+ & Pinterest) and if we find one of your projects, we’ll share it, like it, repost it – we’ll do it all!

On the CASE: Color Theory (Colorful Seasons)

Welcome to our last On the CASE file for 2017! This year’s file cabinet is full to bursting, but we have two more files (one each) for this week… Now that the holidays are in full swing, I think both Ann and I were hoping to get our hands on some simpler projects without any unexpected twists and turns. Fortunately for me, I succeeded in picking just the right CASE file. I hope Ann did too!

On the CASE: Coffee Café

Have you sleuthed through the catalog lately? Perhaps to recreate a project you just love? I felt like a real detective for this week’s On the CASE – I’ll tell you why… I stared, and stared, and compared cardstock for my CASE file this week. I was truly perplexed!! It was clear to me that the base card color was not the same as the cardstock used for the sentiment. What shade of brown could that be?

This Paper Party Just Got Sticky!

Do you get in a sticky situation trying to adhere detailed diecuts to your designs? Not after today’s Paper Party! These Sizzix Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets are the total answer! You’ll have them in your shopping cart before this post is over – guaranteed!

It’s another Thursday and we’re back with another Tic Tac Toe Challenge. (Boy, do these new challenges just make the weeks fly by!). I had some of my Maker Mavens community, and other Pretty Pals over for an event on Saturday, and I taught the technique I shared last week – using gesso for watercoloring on any paper. It was a hit, and I ended up with a few extra samples for my leftovers box. There was one in particular that I knew I wanted to use for this week’s challenge. Let’s take a look at the board:

Play along at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge - Inspiring you 8-ways each week! Find us @tttchallenge or tictactoechallenge.com. New challenges every Thursday!

Like a few of the other designers, I headed to the left column – Love, Gold & Die-cut. But, I added in a few other elements that I thought would work together nicely – Pink, Sentiment and Bling.

For the Tic Tac Toe Challenge (#TTTC012). Featuring,Sunshine Sayings stamp set, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. Gold Foil, Metallics Sequin Assortment. For more details and a video on watercoloring on any paper, and using Sizzix Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets click through. #pmretreat #stampinup #watercolor #love #pink #handstamped

The Paper Party is back! Today we’ll be looking at the Sizzix Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets. I’ve had these for a while, but keep forgetting to try them. Well, not any more! Previously, I would use the Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive (aka: green glue) to put tiny dots of adhesive and stick the element onto the design. Now, I can cut and add adhesive at the same time! WITH NO MESS! Let’s take a look!

Gotta have it – am I right? Here’s some more tips on today’s design:

  • DO NOT – I repeat, DO NOT try to put just an intricate diecut (already cut out) on the sheet and rub the back and hope for the adhesive to stick. I had a MESS when I tried this. The adhesive didn’t cut off around the diecut, so the center pulled out and then got on the front too! On the cardstock pieces I was able to use my adhesive remover to get it off, but the foil pieces were ruined. This might work ok with larger shapes – but try it at your own risk! 😉
  • Sunshine Sayings and the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits were meant for each other! (Literally!) Even though they’re not bundled anymore, if you get one, you’ll want the other to make lots of versatile sentiments. I find that I’m using the cutout words technique a lot with this one. The words are large enough to cut each out separately and place in a haphazard way on the card. It’s so cute and carefree!
  • Love the watercoloring? I did a video on it last week – so, be sure to check that out! You’ll be seeing a lot more of this design element from me because I am in love with the saturated colors! Word of warning – you’ll want all of the ink refills once you start watercoloring this way… Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Using Kits for a Quick and Stunning Card

Aaaannnddd, we’re back! It’s time for another Pals Paper Arts sketch. This time, from the talented Patti MacLeith. When she’s not in Hawaii visiting her grandbaby, you can find her making some stunning cards. It’s no wonder when she comes up with such great sketches like this one!

Pals Paper Arts 290 - play with us today! (www.palspaperarts.com)

I was looking for something quick, so, of course, I went reaching for my collection of Project Life (by Stampin’ Up!) cards, and I found this great cross-stitched heart from the 2015 Seasonal Snapshot collection. Check out my Mastery Tips below for the deets!

Break it Up!

Yah – you! That thick baker’s twine that I want to fit through my buttonholes – I’m talkin’ to you! What? You won’t fit? How about I break you up into just a few strands – that ought to slim you riiiggght down… So, if you didn’t understand that exchange – I wanted to use the thick baker’s twine, but it was too thick for the button. So I just unraveled a few strands and used those – perfecto!

Kits make it Quick:

Like I said earlier, I wanted to put this together quick, so I reached for my Project Life cards. I don’t often use the 4×4 ones, and this one was just perfect. I did trim it down to size as it needed to be a bit smaller. What other kit did I use? Why, a Paper Pumpkin kit from a few months back. You gotta love that there’s a whole themed stamp set left over to use as long as you want after the kit is gone. It’s soooo worth the $19.95 each month when you consider that the stamp set is worth at least $8!

A Hidden Feature

What you might not realize is that this is a Gate Fold card! That means that both the left and right side fold in to the center. The sides are slightly uneven, to match up with the sketch, but, that’s ok – these kinds of gates can do that! In order to keep the gate closed, the sentiment comes from the right and gets tucked under the button. That means that the heart is attached to the left side. Here’s what it looks like opened:

Creating Love That Fits In A Pocket

Hey everyone! Thanks for hanging in there, and welcome back for another Pals Paper Arts challenge. As you know, life ebbs and flows, and right now we seem to be in a major swell with our business, so, I’m juggling the best I can. I know you all understand, but it feels good to get out here and share some with you!

This week’s sketch challenge is brought to you by the talented Amy Lazzell. Isn’t it fun? This is our first official square design for the year.

Pals Paper Arts 288 - play with us today! (www.palspaperarts.com)

Whenever I see square designs, I instantly think of the lovely 3x3 “love note” form factor. They can be just as difficult as larger cards, and can contain just as much detail and extra stuff. For this week, I decided to keep it pretty simple, but it’s stunning none the less! I’m pretty sure this will end up in someone’s pocket sometime soon! What a fun way to surprise someone you love!

USE your DSP!

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again! Cut into that gorgeous stuff! I promise, it won’t scream when you do. DSP was made to be cut, used and admired by its recipient. So do it! Today’s design features not one, but TWO layers of the Going Places DSP.

Flip It, Flip it Good!

Did you notice? I flipped today’s sketch! I knew when I decided that I was going to use the Going Places product suite that I would use one of the sentiments across the top, and the compass rose. Worked out pretty good, huh?! Remember, sketches are for inspiration, so flip it, turn it upside down – do whatever works for you!

Time to Coast...

With our coasterboard! I love this stuff. It’s nice and thick, but still cuts out great with punches and dies. The Compass Rose is stamped in Archival Black right onto the coasterboard, and then cut with the 2″ Circle Punch. Of course, since a 3×3 note can’t be mailed, I decided to add one of our metal rimmed pearls. It’s a little bulky for regular mailing, but for this, it’s perfect!
