12 Days: Wash & Resist Card (and Giveaway!)
Who doesn’t love a watercolor wash?
Especially when it’s paired with emboss resist and a huge sentiment? I just love this look. It’s easy, and is just so much fun to watch as the watercolor creeps around the embossing. I could make these cards all day!
Today’s project is part of another YouTube hop! Some of the hoppers are sponsoring giveaways, so be sure to hop along and check out all the stops to see what we have created for you!

Have you tried watercolor washes over embossing and been less-than-satisfied by the results? I have to admit, I took a few runs at today’s project before I was happy with my process.
The Technique & Design
I kept running into problems with the watercolor sticking to my embossing powder. It took two tries before I finally figured out that I needed to be a little more orderly around the embossing. You’ll see that in the video, and I’m sure to call out a few tips at that point. I hope you learn from my mistakes!
Once I had that little tidbit figured out (ok, huge issue, yes, it was a huge issue! LOL!), I was cringing as I decided on a die to use around the edge. Did I want to use a stitched die, or just a plain rectangle? Hmm, what about those Sizzix Dotted Rectangle dies? Would it be too much? Well, I lucked out! The holes are small enough that it really just added a nice accent to the design, and allowed the background cardstock to show through a bit.
I totally love those Prima snowflake charms! They’re just the right size and allowed me to add a bit of twine to the design. I’m also in love with the new Catherine Pooler sequins selection as they come with different SIZES!!! I’ve been on the lookout for larger sequins, and now I have some!
Don’t forget to leave a comment at the end of the post to qualify for my quarterly giveaway!
